SOLAR
SYSTEM

A project made to test scroll page animations, dark mode, and to talk about our solar system. I made the animation in After Effects and turned it into a Lottie file for performance.
Do you have a favorite planet?

THE
SUN

We all know the sun is hot, but just how hot? To give you an idea, the average surface temperature of the Earth hovers around 17 °C. The average surface temperature on the sun, however, is 5,500°C.

ROCKY
PLANETS

The four rocky planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars. They are the closest four planets to the Sun. These planets are made of rocks and metals and are much smaller than the gas giants.

GAS
GIANTS

The gas planets are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. They are the furthest planets from the Sun. They're balls of hydrogen and helium, you couldn't stand on the surface of the planet because it's not solid.

DWARF
PLANETS

There a currently five officially classified dwarf planets in our solar system. They are Ceres, Pluto, Haumea, Makemake and Eris. The key difference is that a common planet has cleared other objects in the area of its orbit while a dwarf planet has not.

ASTEROIDS
&COMETS

Asteroids are the rocky and airless leftovers from the formation of planets in our solar system.
Comets are frozen leftovers from the formation of the solar system  4.6 billion years ago composed of dust, rock and ices.
